Sustainable development - Course Outline: (One Week / 15 hours)
Day 1: Introduction to CLIL & the SDGs
- What is CLIL? Principles and benefits
- Overview of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals
- Language focus: Vocabulary for sustainability
- Interactive task: Group mapping of SDG connections to education
Day 2: Climate Action & Energy
- SDG Focus: Climate Action (SDG 13), Affordable & Clean Energy (SDG 7)
- Language focus: Describing cause and effect
- Workshop: Creating a mini CLIL lesson plan on climate education
Day 3: Sustainable Cities and Communities
- SDG Focus: Sustainable Cities (SDG 11)
- Language focus: Giving opinions and justifying arguments
- Field Task: Observation walk and reflection (e.g., local green initiatives)
Day 4: Water, Food, and Consumption
- SDG Focus: Clean Water (SDG 6), Zero Hunger (SDG 2), Responsible Consumption (SDG 12)
- Language focus: Expressing solutions and proposals
- Workshop: Designing a classroom activity on sustainable choices
Day 5: Putting It All Together
- Creating a CLIL project for your school
- Peer feedback and collaborative planning
- Language focus: Presentation and peer review skills
- Final presentations: Showcase your sustainability-focused CLIL project
